It will boost your self-confidence, potentially allow you to make new friends and, most crucially, could keep you (or someone else) alive in an emergency.
It’s very easy to get started, as there is bound to be a suitably qualified instructor near you who can teach you all the basic techniques at a pace to suit you. This infographic from The Water Filter Men outlines some of the basic swimming techniques and offers some important safety advice – swimming can be quite fun, but safety always needs to be your top priority.
