Cut Down Noodles for Straight Arms

Sometimes one of the hardest things to correct in beginner swimmers is them not lifting their arms out of the water far enough to clear the water.

I have had occasions where not matter what drill I try I just cannot get those swimming arms out of the water.

Here is a tool I have used that may help alleviate the above. Use a cut Down (to hand size) noodle: and it doesn't do a bad job of forcing high elbows either.

This is a last resort type activity however because as with all physical tools the student has a tendency to revert the moment they stop using it.

Never-the-less if you concentrate on how it feels or getting the student to "remember how it feels" and then get them to "copy that feeling" when they put aside the noodle piece, it can be quite effective.

Enjoy
